Location #A

Updated 3/29/05. I decided to add this location to show the 1932 alainment of US-101 in the area south of Los Osos Valley Rd. and to include the bridge over San Luis Obispo creek.

This bridge was built around 1932 when the old alignment was replaced. It's located on S. Higuera about 1 mile south of Los Osos Valley Rd., near a short northbound on-ramp.

The old cement railing on the east side of the bridge.
There are many cracks forming on this bridge. I suspect it will have to be replaced or retro-fitted soon.
The foot of the southeast end of the bridge.
View looking north across the bridge.
View of the bridge looking south..
View looking south. This section of S. Higuera is a pretty well preserved area of the 1932 alignment.
Closer view of the cement showing the original slab with later widening.
At the north end of this stretch is the famous Octagon Barn. It is currently being restored.
